Meet Kenya Evans-Pinckney, a dedicated Licensed Psychotherapist (LCSW) with a passion for making a positive impact. Born and raised in Jamaica, Queens, NY, she is a proud first-generation New Yorker, while her roots trace back to South Carolina through her parents who made the move in the early '70s.
A graduate of Buffalo State College in 1999 and Fordham University in 2007, Kenya has a wealth of experience in the field, currently serving as the Chief Program Officer at the Jericho Project. With a background as Director of Licensed Programs, Senior Director, Director of Domestic Violence, and Therapist, she brings a diverse skill set to her role.
Kenya's journey into counseling and social work is rooted in a desire to help people, especially those from marginalized communities. Her focus on advocating for equality and quality services for people of color is evident in her commitment to breaking down barriers and addressing systemic issues.
As a POC Senior Leader, Kenya faces daily challenges of racism, often being the sole representative at the "exec table." Undeterred, she confronts racism head-on, demanding equitable treatment and calling for more allies to combat systemic issues.
In her clinical approach, Kenya employs Psychodynamic, CBT, MI, Trauma Informed Care, and the Sanctuary Model, offering a well-rounded and personalized approach to therapy. Clients describe her as open, supportive, easy to talk to, and instrumental in helping them achieve personal goals.
Beyond her professional life, Kenya has the privilege of being a mentor for RELISH (Readying Emergent Leaders In Supported Housing), a program that provides education, training, and opportunities to leaders of color. This commitment reflects her dedication to fostering growth and leadership within her community.
Kenya Evans-Pinckney stands out not only for her professional expertise but also for her unwavering advocacy for equality, making her a trusted ally for those seeking support on their mental health journey.
