Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

At Amira For Her, we are committed to maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of your personal information. The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without your written permission.

However, there are some exceptions in which confidentiality may be breached in accordance with the law. These include:

  • Suspected Child Abuse or Dependent Adult/Elder Abuse: If there is a suspicion of abuse, we are legally required to report it to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • Threats of Serious Bodily Harm to Others: If a client threatens serious bodily harm to another person, we are required to notify the police and inform the intended victim.
  • Self-Harm: If a client intends to harm themselves, we will make every effort to work with them to ensure their safety. If they refuse to cooperate, we may take necessary measures as provided by law to ensure their well-being.
  • Subpoena by Court: In rare cases, if we receive a subpoena from a court, we may be required to disclose information.

We take your privacy seriously and will always work to protect your information. If you have any concerns or questions about confidentiality, feel free to discuss them with your therapist.

What is HIPAA? The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is a federal law that sets national standards for the protection of health information. Just like at your doctor’s office, HIPAA guides therapists in safeguarding your private information and ensures that it remains confidential. We follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure your personal information is handled securely and with the utmost care.
