As women, we have a special role to play in supporting the Black men in our lives. As partners, daughters, wives, mothers, and friends, it is crucial that we are thoughtful and compassionate towards the Black men in our community, especially during these trying times.
It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, who recently passed away by suicide. tWitch was a beloved DJ and TV personality, known for bringing joy and laughter to the Ellen DeGeneres Show. However, even those who seem to radiate positivity can struggle with inner turmoil. It is important to remember that Black men, like all people, deserve to have their feelings and emotions validated, and to be able to seek help when needed. It is a sad reality that many Black men face societal pressures and biases that can make it difficult for them to express their emotions or seek help when needed. It is crucial that we do our part to create a safe and supportive environment for Black men to share their feelings and seek the support they need.
As friends and loved ones, it is our responsibility to offer a listening ear and a caring heart to the Black men in our lives. If you know someone who is struggling, please encourage them to seek therapy or other forms of support. Remember, your value and worth are not determined by what you do or how much money you make – you are valuable and worthy simply because you exist. Let’s come together to support and uplift the Black men in our lives, and ensure that they have the care and support they need to thrive.
