Relaxation through visualization - MADE SIMPLE!
Are you having another tense day? Or do you just want to add to your tools for relaxation and self soothing?
Here is a great simple visualization exercise. It's super simple, fast and easy to do. Dive in here and follow a 5 minute visualization on YouTube, or print and follow the steps below to do them when and where ever you see fit. We have no ties to the producer of this video 5 minute visualization
1- Get in a relaxing position. Make yourself really comfortable. Close your eyes. Take a few nice deep slow breaths.
2-Think about a relaxing place you have been. Is it a beach you laid on, a walk through a state park, time relaxing on your fire escape, stoop, or porch?
3- Picture it. What do you see? What do you smell? How do you feel?
4- What sounds do you hear? Are the birds chirping? Did you hear the waves crashing onto the beach? Maybe you hear cars driving by.
5- What do you smell? In my favorite place at the beach, I smell the fresh sand and salty ocean water.
6- What does it feel like? I always feel the sand under my toes and the hot sun on my back and shoulders. What do you feel?
7- Now you're going to take it a step further. In this restful and peaceful place, your fears and worries are not allowed. SO you're going to intentionally let them go. You will place them aside, visualize yourself placing your fears, like a deck of fear cards, or a box of fear rocks, elsewhere, they have to stay there and you will come and manage them properly when you can. Right now this is a soothing place of rest. Allow peace and calm to wash over you.
8- Say this "I feel the breeze carrying peace and calm, and it envelopes me with warmth. No worries and no fears, I know that all will be right and that there isn't anything coming that I wont be able to handle when I am ready". Now allow the feeling of peace to cover you, breathe deeply as you do this.
9- You are still there, still relaxing in your favorite relaxing place. Enjoy this moment.
