With the Black Lives Matter movement and recent protests, rally's and demonstrations regarding the wrongful assassination of George Floyd, an innocent black man murdered at the hands of the police, we really are living through a historic time. For the first time ever, many POC feel something we haven't felt in a long time, just a slight glimmer of hope. Hope for actual change, no more thoughts and prayers and sorrow. But an eye on actual change. While some police departments are actually receiving reduced funding and budget cuts, others are letting go of extremely violent officers who have histories of abuse and many who are currently abusing innocent people. I watched President Obama the other day giving his address, what i consider the first and only Presidential address over the last few years, and in me rose up that ever so slight feeling. I know many have voiced feeling this way along with me. Others have voiced concern over destruction in communities.
While i don't condone, like or appreciate destruction of anyone's property, especially small businesses, I do understand the anger, feelings of rage and desperation that are behind those actions.
The image above this post was taken earlier this month, June, 2020 in Harlem, NYC. Proud black men, united and fighting for our country. I can only offer a huge thank you to my brothers.
