Tytianna Bowers, MHC
I was born at Brooklyn Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Both of my parents were also born in Brooklyn, New York. I am African American. I attended college at St. Francis College and I graduated in 2017. I attended grad school at Alfred University and graduated with my masters in mental health counseling in 2021.
I went into counseling because I see there is such a strong need for people to have someone to talk to. Some people come from backgrounds where they are made to feel it isn't safe to talk about your feelings or seek help when needed. I wanted to provide a safe space where anyone could feel comfortable to seek help in areas of their life without judgment.
I have been providing client therapy consultations and counseling Therapists for Black Girls in Brooklyn since September 2020. I have worked in advocacy and client counseling at CORE SERVICES in Brooklyn, NY. I have also worked closely with families and their young children in other positions throughout my career.
I care about working with black people because I am a Black woman and I love my people. I know of our daily struggles within society and the lack of resources in some communities. I know it can be hard for people, especially black people to seek counseling. I want them to be able to see someone with the same color skin as them offering services.
My clinical approach is psychodynamic and person-centered. I have been trained in multicultural counseling and working with families. Clients generally feel comfortable and safe with me. They are able to tell that I have their best interest at heart and that I am there for them.
I am am also a mother to an amazing daughter!
